BIOGRAPHY
Shobhana Talukdar, MD was born and raised in Assam, India. She received her medical degree from Gauhati Medical College in Assam and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India before moving to the United States to pursue gynecologic oncology. Dr. Talukdar began her surgical training at the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan, where she completed an additional residency. She then completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine.
Dr. Talukdar specializes in all areas of gynecological cancer, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, and vaginal cancer. She has extensive training in laparoscopic, robotic, and complex pelvic and abdominal surgeries. Dr. Talukdar is an active participant in gynecologic oncology research. During her fellowship at the University of Minnesota, she completed research in the development of predictive signatures for immune therapy in ovarian cancer. She has published full-length peer-reviewed manuscripts in several publications, including Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology and PLOS ONE, as well as book chapters, including a chapter in Cell and Molecular Biology of Ovarian Cancer – Updates, Insights, and New Frontiers.
PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Talukdar’s ultimate goal is to deliver the best possible care for patients with gynecologic cancers. She believes a physician’s job is to not only treat patients and offer care, but to also promote their well-being and an improved quality of life. Diagnosis and treatment are critical parts of patient care, but Dr. Talukdar believes treating gynecologic cancer starts with listening to each patient to understand their goals and needs.
PERSONAL
In her spare time, Dr. Talukdar enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She’s passionate about cooking and travel.
