BIOGRAPHY

LaNette F. Smith, MD is an accomplished breast surgeon with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Smith earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma before completing an internship and a residency in general surgery at the University of Oklahoma Tulsa School of Community Medicine. During her residency, Dr. Smith also served as a clinical associate professor. She then went on to complete a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Smith is highly experienced in ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsy in addition to breast surgical techniques including nipple-sparing mastectomy and oncoplastic surgery. She also sees patients with abnormal mammogram results, as well as high-risk breast patients, and is experienced with genetic assessments. An active participant in the medical community, she has published work in several peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Smith has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for multiple years.


PHILOSOPHY

Dr. Smith strongly believes in a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to treating breast cancer that includes oncology, genetics, and radiation oncology in addition to surgery. Her goal is to provide excellent, knowledgeable care while listening to the patient and supporting their choices. Dr. Smith believes supporting and nurturing the mind, body, and spirit is essential to cancer care.


PERSONAL

Dr. Smith has been married to her husband, an internal medicine physician, for 32 years. Together, they have one child, three dogs, and multiple chickens and turkeys! In her free time, she enjoys working on their “hobby farm,” gardening, and antique and vintage shopping.
