National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Sydney Helwig, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant who specializes in gynecologic oncology. Sydney has extensive training in a variety of areas of healthcare, including a clinical externship in hematology and oncology. Prior to joining the team at Arizona Oncology, she served the community in Tucson as an internal medicine physician assistant, where she performed annual physical and well-woman exams, provided exceptional preventative health management, and treated an array of acute illnesses.

Sydney pursued medicine out of a passion for helping others. She believes approaching medicine with a genuine care for patients provides the best outcomes. Sydney enjoys the collaborative approach of the multidisciplinary team at Arizona Oncology, and finds it fuels her desire for lifelong learning—she believes in constantly expanding her knowledge and experience to better serve her patients. Sydney strives to make each patient and their loved ones feel comfortable by thoroughly explaining each treatment and care option to help them feel prepared and at ease.

Outside of work, Sydney enjoys spending time with her cat and her friends. She also enjoys traveling to visit her family back in Michigan. She is an avid reader who also enjoys documentaries—ask her for her recommendations!
