Palliative Care

Several Arizona Oncology locations offer Palliative Care as part of our comprehensive, compassionate care. Our palliative care nurse practitioners work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of medical professionals to coordinate our patient’s care at all stages of their illness, while they are receiving their treatments at our offices, and during follow-up care. Palliative care begins at diagnosis and continues during treatment and beyond. Arizona Oncology’s Palliative Care Program will help patients improve their quality of life by treating their pain and symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, depression and anxiety as well as help in understanding and coordinating their care. Our goal is for patients to remain independent and live a full life. By keeping patients comfortable, they are able to remain as active as possible while fighting their illness.

Hospice Care

Hospice care, when appropriate, is carefully coordinated by a patient’s physicians, nurses, hospice nurses, medical directors, social workers, clergy (if desired) and volunteers. Hospice focuses on maintaining the comfort and quality of life for patients up to the time of death and providing support for the family during and after a patient’s illness. Patients in the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas have access to a number of hospice programs, depending on where they live, and our staff is very comfortable in working with the hospice team members to achieve these goals.
