Arizona Oncology Begins Construction on New Multi-disciplinary Cancer Care Center

Patients to Access Most Cancer-Care Services at One Facility

PHOENIX—Cancer patients typically have a number of medical appointments including consults with medical and radiation oncologists, lab services, pharmacy pick-ups, diagnostic testing—the list can seem endless. Arizona Oncology patients will soon have a more convenient option at the Biltmore Office, which is currently under construction at the Biltmore Medical Mall, 22ndStreet and Highland Ave. Phoenix. This approximately 27,000 square-foot multidisciplinary cancer care center will provide patients with comprehensive and integrated cancer care, including targeted therapy treatments and state-of-the-art technologies. The new facility is expected to be fully operational by January 2011.

The new center will provide medical and gynecologic oncology services in the same location as Arizona Oncology’s existing radiation oncology office. In addition, a range of supportive services will be available including a patient resource center, nutritional guidance and in-house diagnostics and lab services. In addition, patients will have the benefit of value-added services such as nurse navigators who help guide patients through their treatment and connect them with community resources; and financial specialists who can answer questions about the costs of treatment, handle insurance issues and possibly identify assistance programs to cover costs not covered by insurance. Having these services in one location allows Arizona Oncology to better coordinate patients’ care, helping to streamline the system in a way that is most convenient to them. In turn, the multi-disciplinary team can more effectively collaborate to generate the most effective patient treatment plans.

“This new facility further demonstrates our strong commitment to the community and will enhance our ability to provide advanced and comprehensive cancer care in one, convenient location,” said Michael Roberts, M.D., Practice President, Phoenix Division of Arizona Oncology. “For people with cancer, this is important because it allows them to remain close to home and to their support networks of family and friends.”
