CURE Magazine Named Best Consumer Health Magazine and Website in the Nation

CURE magazine and its accompanying website,, have won three prestigious national awards at the 2010 Folio: Awards. CURE, a free, direct-to patient cancer publication, won the gold Eddie for best publication in the Consumer, Health and Fitness category, and took home the gold Eddie for best website in the same category. The magazine won a bronze Eddie for best cover with its Winter 2009 issue.

Folio:,a trade publication for the magazine industry, recognizes the best publications for editorial and design excellence annually at The Folio: Awards, the largest competition for magazines. “This is an amazing honor,” said Kathy LaTour, editor-at-large for CURE and a cancer survivor. “The staff at CURE works really hard to create a high-quality magazine that is truly a resource for cancer patients. We are so proud of this accomplishment, and we will, as we always have, strive to maintain this high standard.”

CUREmagazine combines science and humanity to help patients, survivors and caregivers navigate the cancer journey and understand their diagnosis and treatment while providing tools to cope during and after cancer. Every product produced by CURE Media Group has been recognized for national awardswithin its field. With the addition of these three Folio: Awards, CURE Media Group has been recognized nationally 37 times, making CURE the most recognized direct-to-patient magazine in the country.

”The editorial and creative force at CURE magazine continues to impress me, but what matters most is the impact to our readers – those whose lives have been forever altered, but realize they have the tools of knowledge and inspiration to live their lives fully,” said Debu Tripathy, MD, editor-in-chief for CURE and Co-Leader of the Women’s Cancer Program at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. “This award recognizes the dedication of the CURE team and their talent to communicate and convey.”

Throughout the past decade, CURE has received awards recognizing everything from design and editorial excellence to feature stories. In addition to the Folio: Awards, CURE received the 2010 PM360 Trailblazer Award also naming the magazine the nation’s best consumer health care publication.

“I’m not surprised that CURE is receiving recognition on a national level,” said Roberta Kafora, RN, MSN, OCN, Arizona Oncology. “When our patients are first diagnosed, they want all the information they can get about their disease…what are the best treatments, what are the experts saying, and how have other cancer patients dealt with challenges during their cancer journey. CURE provides all these things in a way that makes the patients feel like they are not alone in the cancer fight.”
