The independent oncology practice adds two new breast surgeons as their chief of operations resumes seeing patients in a move to better serve the Arizona Community.
Phoenix, AZ, September 8, 2020 – Arizona Oncology, a premier provider of advanced cancer care throughout Arizona and a practice in The US Oncology Network, is excited to announce the addition of breast surgeons Ronald L. Bauer, MD, FACS and to their Phoenix breast surgical team. In addition, the practice is thrilled that breast surgeon and chief of operations Edgar D. Staren, MD, PhD, FACS resumes seeing patients in Phoenix.
Ronald L. Bauer, MD, FACS received his doctorate from University of Maryland and completed his surgical residency at West Virginia University. He completed his fellowship training in surgical oncology at UCLA and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Bauer belongs to the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Disease, and American Society of Breast Surgeons. He is an advocate for timely screening for all cancers, especially mammograms. Dr. Bauer offers evaluation of breast conditions in both women and men, examination of abnormal clinical findings, and definitive breast surgeries.

In addition to the new breast surgeons, chief of operations Edgar D. Staren, MD, PhD, FACS will resume seeing patients in Phoenix. Dr. Staren has more than 30 years of oncology experience including numerous executive leadership roles, academic appointments, committees, honors, awards, and publications. Dr. Staren is the former president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and has published nearly 300 scientific works.
Dr. Staren earned his medical degree from Loyola University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training and fellowship in surgical oncology at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospitals. He completed additional graduate education including his doctorate of immunology/microbiology from Rush Medical College and a Master of Business Administration from Benedictine University.
