Dr. Cortas is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. In 2008, she served as the director of the multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program at the VA medical center in Cleveland. In addition, Dr. Cortas was appointed as director of the inpatient oncology unit. She was then appointed associate chairperson of the cancer center committee and the coordinator of quality of cancer registry. Dr. Cortas served as assistant professor of internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University. In addition, she was appointed as a staff member in the internal medicine department at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center division of Hematology/Oncology with responsibilities including; patient care, teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
