Dr. Patel is a native of Indiana and completed both his undergraduate and Medical School at Indiana University. While in medical school, he was involved in organizing health fairs to provide medical screening services to underserved populations in Indianapolis. He also was able to participate in an elective where he served rural areas in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
Upon completing medical school, Dr. Patel moved to Salt Lake City where he completed his residency and fellowship training. He also received an additional year of training in conducting Phase I clinical trials and utilizing novel anti-cancer drugs at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Dr. Patel has been actively involved in the development of research protocols involving new combinations of anti-cancer drugs and investigating the impact of cancer mutational screening in treating patients. He also has published several papers on targeted therapies in prostate, colorectal and lung cancers. Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.
In his spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family, storm chasing and training in the Wing Chun style of kung-fu.
