Arizona Oncology - The US Oncology Network

Welcome New Arizona Oncology Volunteers!

1/12/2010

On Tuesday, January 12th, Arizona Oncology officially welcomed our new volunteers into our community.  These wonderful people were formerly involved with Sunstone, but have now joined Arizona Oncology's family of great patient resources.

Dawn Rataczak, our new Volunteer Services Coordinator/Project Coordinator hosted a meet and greet luncheon at the Arizona Oncology Craycroft/TMC location.  She will be overseeing resources at four different sites.  These on-site resources include wig and head covering loan programs, cancer lending libraries and community resource information, volunteer coordination within the lobbies, reception desk, chemotherapy volunteers, yoga, support groups and much more to come.

All wigs are given on a loan basis, and when they are no longer needed by the patient, they can be returned for the wig wash volunteers to clean and style them to be used again.  We will also be accepting cancer-related books for the libraries.

Renovations are also being done in the downstairs lobby area of the Craycroft location.  New color schemes, comfortable furniture, plenty of informative materials and a welcoming team of experienced volunteers that are ready to help with any needs that the patients may have will soon be available right there in the lobby area.

At the Welcome Luncheon on Tuesday, the volunteers helped themselves to a fully catered lunch and participated in a question-and-answer session with AO physicians, Practice Administrators, an AO Nursing Services Manager, and the Executive Director of Arizona Oncology, Scott Zeilinger.

We are all so excited to have these essential people on our team and we welcome them with open arms!
